Splat, You're It!

Grades Kingergarten-2:

Introduction: Learning new ways to have fun without technology is today's agenda. After reading Splat, you learned how Squirt found fun without using any from of technology. Although you may not have your friends, you can always use your siblings and parents for this!

Task: For this activity, you get to create your own painting using ice. Each student should be able to create their own painting by using their creativity. Painting on ice cubes will show how the colors mix with the water and get to see it all melt together. Remember to have fun and use your creativity! You can send this to all your friends and have them do it at home and send pictures of your art!

Items list:
·        Ice
·        Plate of any kind or baking sheet
·        Up to 10 paint colors. (these can be any medium of paint. I used acrylic.)
·        Paint brush

Step-by-step instructions:
·        Click on the video listed under ‘Video:’ to start playing the book. This book is being read to your student.
·        Now, begin to set up your student’s project. Below are the instructions with pictures also.
·        First you will want to set your materials up.

·        Next, I poured the ice I put in the bowl on the plate.

·        I then put my first color of paint on to my paint brush.

·        You will then paint the ice! It does not stick like paper, so you get to be creative about your placement.

·        Lastly, this is what my creation looked like. If you want to add another element into your painting, put a sheet of printer paper under the ice. When it melts down, you will have a creative ice painted paper!
