May Day Flower Bouquet Activity

To make a mayday paper flower bouquet, you will need pipe cleaners, coffee filters, markers, tape, scissors, paper, a stapler, and a toilet paper roll. This activity is intended for kids grades 3 and older.

There are multiple types of flowers you can make. The first uses four coffee filters and a pipe cleaner. First, flatten out four coffee filters and decorate them with markers or any coloring utensil.

Next, gather the middle of each coffee filter and the staple it so that the top puffs out.

Now, gather all of the middles of the coffee filters and staple them all together.

Lastly, staple a pipe cleaner on to the bottom to make a stem.

For the next type of flower, you will need a piece of printer paper and a pipe cleaner. First, fold the piece of paper in half the long way and draw stripes on both sides of the paper.

Now fold the paper in half the short way twice.

Now, cut strips in the paper, but not all the way through to the other side, and carefully unfold the paper.

Next, tape one end of the pipe cleaner on one end of the paper and slowly roll the paper around the pipe cleaner. Tape the other end of the paper to the pipe cleaner.

The last type of flower uses 2 coffee filters and a pipe cleaner. First flatten out two coffee filters and decorate them with markers. Then fold the coffee filters in half twice.

Next, take your pipe cleaner and line it up with the middle of the coffee filter. Twist both sides of the coffee filter around the pipe cleaner and tape them together. Fluff the coffee filters out to look like a flower.

For the last step, get a toilet paper roll and decorate it with markers. Put all of your flowers in the toilet paper roll and you have a vase of May day flowers!
