Numbers on the
wall
This
will be a math activity that has a physical and competitive twist! I specifically
struggle with subtraction, so I decided to focus on that. This activity can
work with addition, multiplication, and division as well.
There
are going to be squares going up on the wall with a number on each of them.
Whoever’s turn it is, will get a subtraction problem to solve in their head.
Once they have their answer, they will throw a soft ball (I couldn’t find a
ball, so I used rolled up socks and it works as well!)
What
you’ll need:
· Markers (using a
pen would work as well as long as it’s dark)
· Paper! I used
poster board because it’s sturdier than construction paper.
· Scissors
· A ball or soft toy
(socks work too!)
First
step is to cut your paper into squares. The smaller the square, the harder the
game! I cut out 15 squares, so this means my subtraction problems all have
answers of 15 or below.

Step
2. Write
a number on each card.
Step
3. Write
out some subtraction problems. Any numbers will work as long as the answers are
15 or below! I included my list for ideas!
Step
4. Tape
your cards up on a big space. Make sure to mix up the numbers so it’s not too
easy! Take turns solving a subtraction problem and try to throw the ball at the
card with the answer.
