Ingredients:
Water
Pepper
Soap
Directions:
1.
First, grab a plate and fill it with
water
2.
Pour pepper into the water
3.
Explain to your kids that the pepper
represents germs
4.
Tell them to place their finger into
the water
5.
When they take their finger out of the
water, have them look at it and see how many “germs” (pepper) are on their
finger.
6.
Have them dip that same finger into
some soap and swirl it around
7.
After they dip their finger into the
soap, have them put that finger back into the water and watch how the pepper
flakes “run” away from the soap and go to the edge of the plate
8.
Have them look at their finger again
and notice how there’s barely any “germs” (pepper) on their finger
9.
Explain to them that this experiment
mimics how germs are removed from hands when we use soap.
