Green Eggs and Ham Activity

Read book:  Green Eggs and ham by Dr. Seuss

Items needed for the activity: Green plastic Easter eggs, candy (optional), dry erase marker, Green Eggs and Ham (or access to online video recording)
This is a learning activity intended for first or second graders who are learning to read and rhyme! For this activity you can have your child watch the video of the book reading or if you own the book read it out loud. Since it is the Easter season, you will need some green Easter eggs. Each egg will have a pair of rhyming words from the book, such as park and dark. Each word will be written on one half of the egg.
Once you have done that you can mismatch the rhyming words so that the eggs no longer rhyme, such as putting car and boat. If you have candy you can put candy inside for the kids to find! Then you can hide the eggs and have the kids search for them. Upon finding the eggs, the kids will have to find the corresponding rhyme in order to match them back up, such as putting goat back with goat and car back with are.
