Germs are Not for Sharing

This activity is appropriate for ages 4-7.

Supplies:

·      “Germs Are Not for Sharing” book (optional)

·      Printed coloring sheet

·      Crayons, markers, etc. for coloring

·      Tape (optional)

Read the book “Germs Are Not for Sharing” to your child or have them follow along with the video. This book is available as an e-book through Lincoln City Libraries or available for purchase via a number of online retailers.

After reading the book, have your child color the coloring sheet. While they are coloring, you can facilitate conversations about germs and hand washing.

Conversation starters could include:

·      Ask your child how talking about germs makes them feel

·      Brainstorm ideas for songs that your child can sing while they wash their hands

·      Ask your child why they think it is important to wash their hands

·      Ask your child when they usually wash their hands

Once they are finished coloring, hang the coloring sheet near a sink in your house. You could even create a coloring page for each sink in your house!
